Groezrock 2017: Now We’re Really Excited! Part Three [Preview]

Previously I’ve looked at some of my favourite bands that are playing at Groezrock this year, as well as looking at some of the bands on the small stage that I wasn’t familiar with before their announcement. This week I’m going to look at some of the bands in the middle of the pack, playing the higher slots on the B2B stage and the daytime slots on the main stage.

Let’s start with The Bouncing Souls. They’re a key band on any festival line-up, and one of those bands that whether you’re massively into them or not, you just have to see. Their melodic punk rock songs, complete with massive singalong choruses make them the perfect punk festival band, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them play to one of the biggest audiences of the whole weekend.

H2O don’t need an introduction, they’ve been gracing stages for what seems like forever and are one of the most important hardcore bands of all time. If you don’t know about them, and aren’t planning on checking them out, then you probably shouldn’t be at Groezrock. Last time I tried to check them out I couldn’t get into the tent.

The Menzingers have recently released what could prove to be one of the albums of the year. It’s certainly high on our list already. They’re on top form right now, and last time I saw them at Groezrock they were great, and I don’t foresee this year being any different.

Currently on a massive tour with The Menzingers are The Flatliners. There was a bit of an uproar last year when they were in Europe at the time and not booked to play Groezrock. For some reason it just wasn’t meant to be. It seemed that they were one of the most sought after bands last year, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see the main stage absolutely packed for their set.

Finally, for this week at least, I have to advise that you go and check out Thrice. They’re one of those bands that I’ve always been aware of but never really listened to. They’re main support to Deftones on Saturday night, which means there might be some overlap with Anti-Flag and Tim Vantol, but if there’s a chance to check out these post-hardcore legends then you’d be a fool to miss out.
